Smibs has launched a selection of professional networking and task collaboration tools (AKA “git ‘er done” stuff). It’s called SmibsNet and is currently an invite-only beta.

Whereas LinkedIn, Ziggs and other websites help professionals share their resumes and contact lists, Smibs focuses on enabling professionals to work together to get things done.

I can’t help but think that Smibs has an uphill battle in front of it to make SmibsNet reach critical mass. There are already many similar busines networking sites that are firmly entrenched in the market.

One thing I’d love to see instantly visible on the Smibs homepage: case studies. The testimonials at bottom right give a bit of social proof, and the TechCrunch etc. coverage should help Smibs get noticed. But until it shows off examples of how people have used it successfully, I don’t know if its conversion rate from the homepage will be nearly as high as it could become otherwise.

Pricing information would also be great to see from Smibs. I know they’re still in semi-private beta mode, but at least a hint at a price range, plus maybe a basic feature set comparison between any tiers they may have, would be wonderful to have in hand.
