The Barack Obama Guide to Launching a Tech Startup
By: Senior staff writer – Easton Ellsworth
You’re not Barack Obama. Sorry.
But if you were, this is probably how you would launch a new technology startup company:
1. Surround yourself with people who are much smarter than you are.
Obama’s a highly intelligent man. But he also is humble enough to acknowledge that others exist who are more qualified and better prepared to face certain challenges. So in the next two months, he is sure to appoint many individuals to key White House staff positions based on their expertise – particularly in areas where he’s not the world’s greatest expert.
2. Ask people to spread the word and give them simple tools to help them do so.
One quick look at the Obama and McCain campaign websites makes it painfully clear whose team made it easier and more appealing to promote their message online and offline.
3. Talk more about how your offering matches people’s wants than about how unique you are.
Everyone knows that Barack Obama’s name and racial background make him stand out from previous U.S. presidents. But in his 2008 campaign run, he chose not to make that his rallying cry. Instead, Obama focused on the number one issue in Anmericans’ minds: the economy. And he laid out detailed plans to address their concerns about it.
4. Get a puppy.
Because every good team needs a mascot, right?

Nice post, Easton!
I’ll also add that Obama organized the best campaign ever with the help of young volunteers.
Start-ups founders can learn to delegate responsibilities and outsource jobs to other people.
