Can SnapAds Save the Feeble Online Display Advertising Industry?
By: Senior staff writer – Easton Ellsworth
When was the last time you clicked on a banner ad?
Okay, anyway.
SnapAds hopes to help ailing online publishers and marketers make more money from display advertising. (Well, and advertisers too, in that sense.)
On paper, it makes perfect sense – SnapAds automatically monitors the ads that appear on your websites and optimizes them to make you more money or get more clicks, etc.
There is a case study linked to from the SnapAds homepage that I’m a little skeptical about (but not too skeptical to believe that SnapAds could be for real).
It’s just that in one case, SnapAds reports having boosted a campaign’s engagement by 1922%. I say, well, if they were starting from basically zero, it wouldn’t take much to generate that kind of percentage increase.
Also, SnapAds isn’t for everyone. Because it’s based on the principle of constant honing and optimization of online ads, it needs a lot of impressions in order to make its results really shine for customers. We’re talking hundreds of thousands or even millions of views in order to guarantee that the system is going to work its mojo properly.
Finally, SnapAds doesn’t make anything new – it just sifts what you give it and tries to identify and emphasize the best-performing variations.
So I’m a bit skeptical still. But we’ll see. We’ll see.
