Apple has always, repeat Always, known how to make a splash at their conferences, and it looks like this year, they are doing just that. We all know just how popular the iPhone is, we all know that those that have them, love them, and those that don’t, want them. We all have heard the rumors that Verizon will eventually be getting their hands on one, we just don’t know when, and now, we officially know that YOU can have one for a whole heck of a lot cheaper than ever before.

Just how cheap? Glad you asked…try $99 on for size. Yep, Apple did it again, announcing that they’ll be coming out with some new iPhone’s, and one of them is going to be an extremely impressive $99. If you want a bit more speed you can always spend another $100 and go for the new, faster and more storage laden iPhone 3Gs, but if not, the iPhone 3G, at only $99, might just cause sales to skyrocket.

Considering that the highly anticipated, and impressive-looking Palm Pre is taking pre-orders at $100 more than that, it looks like Apple is trying to put a huge dent in their sales. Considering the $99 iPhone 3G will have access to over 50,000 apps in their App Store, I think we’re going to once again see iPhones in just about everyone’s hands. Could this spell disaster for the Palm Pre? We’ll see. Considering the fact that they’ve currently sold about 50,000 units on pre-order, they aren’t doing bad. Time will tell, and we’ll be watching.
