re-ticket

Prior to the last six years, I spent seven years working in the travel industry. I started off as a corporate, domestic travel agent. It wasn’t too long before I moved into accepting more and more responsibilities in technology and migrated into management.

Even though I’ve been out of the industry for awhile now, I still enjoy keeping tabs on what’s happening with travel technology. The Internet has become quite a marketplace for travel suppliers.

Re-ticket.com has taken an area of travel supply that was always a headache to try and deal with in the industry. The question of non-refundable tickets and how to retain some sort of value for them. If you’re familiar with StubHub.com, think that service, but for travel tickets.

The biggest challenge in this marketplace is restrictions and rules on airline tickets. The Re-Ticket.com website doesn’t limit themselves to just airline tickets though. They also provide a marketplace for train, coach and ferry tickets and other travel packages. Many times the restrictions for changing the owner or names placed on these tickets is much easier and therefore have a greater opportunity to be resold.

Right now, because of the ticket types available. much of the tickets available are for international destinations.
