To-Do List, Part Deux
By Staff Writer – John Federico (@gadgetboy)

I’m a GTD practitioner.
That means I use David Allen’s Getting Things Done methodology for managing my tasks and productivity. (You can learn more about it here.)
Truthfully, I’ve missed the experience of taking pen to paper to manage my tasks but these days, it’s just not practical – projects and the tasks they consist of are fluid and digital management is really the most efficient management method.
TeuxDeux, a product from SwissMiss & Fictive Kin, wants to bring that pen-to-paper experience back to managing your tasks.
With a simple Monday through Friday layout, you can create lists of your tasks, “cross them off” when they’ve been completed, move them to the next day and so on. In classic GTD style, there’s also a “Someday” list at the bottom to capture items that have no due date.
While I love this interface, I would like to see it built out with a few key components that GTD requires.
First, it needs to allow for multiple lists. I have a list for each project along with the context for it, if required. So, “TechStartups” has a list. I also have also a list for “Personal,” “House Projects,” “New Business,” etc.
It also needs to classify items based on the action, “email,” “call,” etc. and then classify the context even further: “home,” “office,” etc.
Currently, I use Remember the Milk to accomplish this. This works beautifully for me because as it’s a browser based app that I can pull up anywhere. There’s also a free iPhone app so I can manage my task list on-the-go. (This requires an annual Pro account for $25.)
Still, TeuxDeux is very friendly and inviting and I intend to follow its progress.
TeuxDeux is currently free. Sign up now before they change their minds.
