RED Scarlet Hands On and Body Demo #CES
This year at CES, thanks to Tim Street, I was able to meet some great people. One of them was his friend, Ted Schilowitz.
Ted has a rad job and even more rad moniker – Ted from RED. Yep, that RED. The one the produces the cameras Peter Jackson is now shooting movies with and the yet to be released “The Book of Eli” was shot with.
As I would learn, Ted had been carrying the Scarlet around with him for last two days. We sat down for a break and they started telling the story of how they were just mobbed at the Engadget CES trailer when he busted out a Scarlet. Total double take. What?
Ted pulled out the uniquely styled camera at our request and let us put our future loving hands all over it. Twisting it around, talking about the glass and the REDMOTE that attached to back of the body for remote control.
The new RED Scarlet, coming later this year, will set you back around $5,000 when it is configured with grip, drives and other base goodies. Which is a steal for a camera that will shoot cinema quality straight to hard drive and can be edited in Mac or PC.
On our way out after Ted had blown our minds we bumped into Leo Laporte and a portion of his TWIT posse. Take a look at the photo below and to see just interested the most geeky of the geeky can be when it comes to the future of video and photo.
