Get More Done, With Faster Internet
By Senior Editor – Kris Smith (@croncast)
It sounds like a pitch from the pre-ubiquitous days of broadband but it is still true in many ways.
So this quick tip comes to you as a way to add a little more speed to your broadband workflow – lose the wifi.
That’s right. Get wired and take advantage of being connected directly to your modem or router.
Bust out the Cat5e or the Cat6 and even plug it into your laptop. Getting wired is also a great solution for SOHO if you’re allowing multiple users WiFi access to the same access point.
By distributing your users to wired ports on your router you will increase the speed for each user on the network.
The increased speed will lead to faster load times. This is especially crucial as many applications are now pushed off into the cloud and are Ajax laden. Often times users will begin to interact with a page before the Ajax scripts have fully loaded and this will cause browser errors or the need to refresh pages. Get the wires and page load speed will decrease and productivity will increase.
Besides getting wired you could also hire an animal trainer to stand behind you with a panther under the threat that if you or your employees don’t work fast enough that the beast will be released.
