WooRank Attempts to Analyze Your Web Site for Improvement, Fails
By Staff Writer – John Federico (@gadgetboy)

A couple of weeks ago I wrote about WebMii, a service that ranks your web presence based on what it finds about you using Google, Yahoo, Bing and a variety of social media platforms.
What WebMii is for individuals, WooRank is for web sites.
WooRank attempts to analyze your site and its level of influence based on a variety of inputs including search results, in-site SEO analysis, off-site SEO analysis, response time and other factors. Here’s what the profile for TechStartups.com looks like:
Our “WooRank” is 60.3. The average is 50.9! We’re huge!

I have no idea how this is calculated, so it’s all just random number generation as far as I’m concerned.
Next, here is our estimated traffic. Quite a wide swing in terms of an estimate but we’re closer to the upper end than the lower. The Alexa and Compete rankings are nice to see side-by-side.

Content appears to be analyzed using Google, thought it doesn’t say which search engine they’re checking for indexed pages. It also tells us the most popular pages.
In-site SEO is interesting. It provides a simple report covering basic factors that affect your ranking.

Website Compliance refers to W3C compliance and not any other such as supporting ADA (American with Disabilities Act) compliance.

Off-Site SEO is not all that helpful. Google crawls the site all the time, but WooRank can’t determine when the last crawl date was. It also uses Delicious, Digg and Twitter as a means of measuring one-way links back to the site. Beyond that, it’s missing quite a bit in terms of analysis.
Usability is just an odd ranking. How can it tell me how usable the site may be? It’s a bot!

Finally, there’s information about the site itself: the US State in which it’s hosted, the IP and some other random facts.
Like WebMii, it’s fun to play with but I wouldn’t use it as a serious business tool.
