For the netbook loving, penny pinching nerds out there that love to support OpenSource software there is an update for OpenOffice to bring it up to version 3.2.

I’ve been using OpenOffice for over five years and refuse to give it up for the cloud and gears. I just can’t do it. There are plenty of times that I find myself without an internet connection and happy that I can find my files locally.

And don’t even get me started on paying the money for Microsoft Office that I would then need to put on my other machines at cost. Let alone trying to get that on my Linux OS netbook.

OpenOffice has me covered and will have you covered as well if you are a Mac, PC and Linux user or have a house with these OS’s wandering around and family members to give tech support to.

This update is really to speed up load times when the program is invoked. It has always taken its time in loading up once a document is opened or it is click from icons. Another improvement is the ability to copy and paste complex content types that won’t cause the program to hang.

For the special price of FREE, OpenOffice is a great program that offers all that Microsoft Office has to offer an more.

I personally tend to favour SSuite Office’s free office software. Their software also don’t need to run on Java or .NET, like MS Office and so many open source office software, so it makes their applications very small, efficient, and easy to use.

Works really well on my netbook. The speed is incredible.
