Every wonder who Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg is dating? And who Mashable’s Pete Cashmore is seeing?

Sure, after Facebook mucked up their privacy settings, the world got a glimpse of Zuckerberg with his girlfriend, Priscilla Chan.

The Harvard Crimson had long ago revealed how they met:

“Hey Priscilla, do you want a job at the facebook?” Zuckerberg asked a passing friend.

“I’d love a job at facebook,” Priscilla Chan ’07 responded, offering him a Twizzler.

That’s cute. Cashmore’s girlfriend, photographer and media star Lisa Bettany filmed “Two days in the life of Mashable CEO, Pete Cashmore.”

Details magazine’s story on The Playboys of Tech was published a few years ago and paints the picture of the dating scene:

Cameron Herold’s TED talk on why parents should raise their kids to be entrepreneurs is interesting. Don’t give them Ritalin to make the kids calm down and don’t shun those who cheat in school, those skills could come in handy later!

There’s no point in being bored, when you have the chance to love what you do and have control over your business decisions.

In a previous article for The Globe and Mail:

Martyn Dyer-Smith, a psychologist at Northumbria University, says people can become “literally bored to death” as boredom has the same impact on the body as stress.

Highly skilled people may be particularly vulnerable to boredom, once they have perfected their skills and are, therefore, able to perform their jobs with little attention or effort, he says. “The carrot of a good salary makes someone persevere in a job, but if there is little intrinsic stimulation in the work itself, their health may suffer.”

On that note, Herold suggests reading five books:

E-Myth; Good To Great; Rockefeller Habits; One-Minute Manager; Atlas Shrugged.

Mashable has a great post this morning that lays out Facebook’s history in one infographic.

You can see a snippet of the graphic on the left here. I’m not going to try to steal their page views on this one, Mashable deserves them. So does the designer that put this together.

The graphic follows the last 6 years of Facebook’s growth mixed with statistics that cover the highlights and interesting snippets that have made up their history.

Of course, missing from this is the court case and subsequent judgment for $65 million dollars.

Of course, TweetLevel doesn’t ignore numbers altogether. It does take into account the number of followers a Twitter account may have and the account’s “participation” in the community (I assume that means tweet frequency). However, the tool places a much greater weight on what is being said and how trustworthy an individual twitterer may be.

Using a 100-point scale, here are some of TweetLevel’s highest rated Twitterers:

• Perez Hilton (score: 86.5)
• Mashable (86.3)
• Twitter Tips (85.2)

Microsoft PR Agency of Record Waggener Edstrom launched a similar tool called Twendz earlier this year. Twendz monitors trending topics on Twitter while providing sentiment analysis on those topics. As of this post, I was unable to get Twendz running in Chrome, Firefox or Safari on my MacBook running Snow Leopard 10.6.2. The Company plans to offer a premium version of the tool later this year.

The good people over at CNN.com have made a significant improvement with their new redesign and it’s not what you think. Sure it is prettier, peppier and full of new web goodness, including beta a beta section.

All of this is great but what about CNN showing link love after all of these years? I believe this is the greatest improvement.

For years, CNN did not link directly to sites that it referenced in any of its reporting. Their policy dictated that a site be referenced by typed out URL and not a link. So if you were lucky enough to be written by CNN on one of the most heavily trafficked sites on the web you would have not one referral that you could track.

In the redesign posts it seems as though since this restriction has been lifted authors are punch-drunk and link loving like mad. You know the kind of party I am talking about.

You can get a view of this content on their newly redesigned pages. The older pages of the site, evidenced by their two column layout and darker grey background still adhere to the old policy.

The reasoning may be that different versions of the site are controlled by a newer CMS that isn’t fully integrated with legacy content. Which, isn’t that uncommon when you are dealing with an organization as large as this Time-Warner property.

To see an example of this linking in action read Pete Cashmore’s, “Privacy is dead, and social media hold smoking gun.” Pete is the CEO of the popular technology blog Mashable.com. Should I be as excited that CNN is partnering with Mashable . . . you bet! That however, is a post for another day.

What should also be of interest to other publishers is why CNN has opened up this linking policy. It isn’t simply because linking makes it easier for you to get to the referenced content, that is part of it, but not fully. Real links create machine readable code that can be used more readily in semantic applications for creating connections for content.

This is a big step is creating a smarter web of content that allows computer filtering, vertical syndication, structured data relationships and more of the all important SEO juice.
