By Senior Editor – Kris Smith (@croncast)

In one day less than two months I have managed to write 200 blog posts.

This one, being the 200th.

I know this because after writing about 50 posts I thought to myself, “What else am I going to write about?”

Turns out, at this many, right now, you write about writing and how to build blog traffic.

So how did I get to this magic number in roughly two months of blogging?

It’s my job. My number one duty is to write 5 posts a day.

If being senior editor of this blog were not my job I wouldn’t have written 99% of these posts. The remaining 1% I would have posted on my personal blog.

If I were starting a blog today on my own I would follow this pattern of writing posts. I might find it harder to find topics to write about now but writing itself is much easier to do.

Why post so much?

Traffic, traffic, traffic. With my posts and the posts of John and Boonsri we’ve increased unique visitors, indexed pages, page views and keywords over 1500%. We’ve got a long way to go with this blog but by producing regular content that has interesting angles on technology we’re growing steadily.

Where do we go from here?

We keep on cranking out the posts on the topics that keep you coming here or subscribed. You can expect to see a fresh new design in the New Year, more video, more local startup news and other fun stuff we’re keeping under wraps.

Thank you guys for sticking around and helping us to grow Tech Startups! And thanks to the Network Media Holdings honchos for having us!

Hey guys, for those of you on the iPhone or any Android device we’ve got a small update for you being released this morning.

It’s not that big of a deal, just one button. But a button that can get you through a post without all the eyestrain of tiny type.

I’ve modified the WPTouch theme to now have the ‘Font Size’ button in the header at the top of the page instead of in the footer. This way you can size up the type before you read instead of after.

Check it after the break.

It still needs a bit of work to set the font size as a fav (would be killer if WPTouch added this in their admin menu) and to fix some spacing issues in titles.

My inspiration for this was the awesome Readability, The New York Times iPhone app and my inability to read the damn tiny type. Possibly, I just like seeing my name in a larger font. Hah!

Any other thoughts on what we should tweak in the mobile version?

by Senior Staff Writer – Tyler Knott Gregson

When it comes to searching for things on a mobile phone, the easier it is, the more likely people are going to be to actually use it. That’s the idea that new startup Geodelic is banking on, and it turns out others are too, to the tune of $3.5 million dollars in startup capital. Apparently, reports are saying that they are striving to create a “search-less search,” that uses location-based GPS services to ping your phone with recommendations on things that are literally around you.

According to TechCrunch:

“Geodelic is creating a location-aware search engine for restaurants, movies, stores, flights, hotels, and local attractions which recommends results based on their distance from you. A “location carousel” brings up nearby results on a map by category and it learns from you behavior which places, stores, and brands you like the best, and will target you accordingly.”

Just how accurate the results are remains to be seen but I think this startup has an amazing future and will do great things for people who want to get results on their phone, but don’t have the patience to actively search for it. The more the results find YOU, instead of you finding them, the more likely people are to embrace it.

Stay tuned for more on Geodelic and their happy host of apps, things could get extremely interesting for their future.

If you’ve ever used Twitter you’ve most likely found one little flaw: There is SO much information, that getting through it at all is nearly impossible. To find out anything of substance, at this point, has been difficult as sifting through the mountains of tweets can be mind-bogglingly frustrating. Looks like there have been a few attempts to create good search engines, and even Twitter has one, but apparently a former Microsoft head honcho thinks they can do better. Enter CrowdEye.

That’s right, Ken Moss, who was a 20-year Microsoft employee and most recently even worked with their new Live Search, thought that there had to be a better way to sift through all of the information on Twitter. CrowdEye is a new real-time search engine that he hopes will make things much easier. According to reports, he thinks there is plenty of room to improve:

“We are certainly big fans of Twitter here and the platform that they are providing for the world, but I think they would be the first to admit that they are not taking full advantage of how to provide interesting search results…Things like looking through the links that people are Tweeting about and providing what the popular links are or what the popular hashtags are or any type of time view.”

Considering the fact that there already ARE Twitter Search engines, including one that is actually run By Twitter, it will be interesting to see how CrowdEye actually stacks up and how much traffic and use they’ll actually see. Nevetheless, we always love to see startups trying to improve on areas they feel aren’t up to par.

Will this work? Time will tell, but having a Microsoft vet on board sure can’t hurt.

by Senior Staff Writer – Tyler Knott Gregson

You’d think that if you’d already created one of the most popular photo sharing sites and social networks in the entire world, and then SOLD that brilliant company to Yahoo! for a huge sum of money, you’d spend the rest of your life resting on your laurels and living off the immense sums of money you’d just earned. That is, unless you’re Caterina Fake, who created Flickr and then sold it back in 2005. Looks like she has a new startup she’s excited about, and chances are good we will be to.

Her new startup, called Hunch.com, is basically a search engine that wants to do more than most search engines. By asking you a series of questions and then comparing your answers to those questions to other users, it is going to try to go on a “hunch” and give you suggestions and results based on exactly what you’ll want.

Sounds good, right? Looks like there is a little video up on BusinessWeek, that we’ve embedded below for your viewing pleasure.

Today, we’re going to watch a video that really shows us a glimpse into the future. Remember that amazing scene on Minority Report with Tom Cruise where he shifted through documents, video and photographic evidence using nothing but his hands? Yeah, us too. Now imagine if you could do the same thing on ANY surface. Yes, Any surface. Even your hand.

That’s the idea that this video is showcasing from this year’s TED Conference and I must say, after watching the video my mind is entirely and officially blown. Imagine being able to take a photo of something, anything, simply by holding your hands up into a photographic square shape. Imagine being able to then walk up to a wall and display that photo for everyone to see. Imagine being able to dial your cell phone using nothing but the palm of your hand. Imagine going into a grocery store and picking up a product and being able to learn all about it simply by holding it and looking at it. That, my friends, is the future, and it’s on the way.

Check out the video, use is as inspiration, as excitement, and as a sign of what’s to come. We’re getting there, every single day new companies, new tech startups, new organizations are changing the way we’re going to live our lives, and our children will live theirs. I can’t wait to get started.

Today, as you most likely are completely aware, is Earth Day. It only comes once a year, so we thought we’d take today to honor it and make sure all of you are doing all you can to stay as Green as you can so we can guarantee that this planet will be able to support us in all of our tech startup loving needs.

So take today to make a few small changes in your daily life that can help add up to some impressive big ones. Bike, don’t drive and if you must drive, Carpool. When you go to the grocery store, use re-usable bags, don’t use paper or plastic. When you’re shopping for new technology check for any recycling opportunities for your old stuff; our landfills are overflowing with cellphones, laptops, monitors and old tech that could be repurposed, recycled and turned into something new, something better.

At TechStartups.com we cover just about everything concerning technology, business startups, social media, social networking and all things relevant in the industry. Can you get more relevant than saving what we have left? For all you new tech-startups out there looking to break into the game and change things up, remember this: Green is in, Green is Good. If you ARE a tech startup out there that IS green, shoot us an email, we’d love to profile Your business on this site.

Happy Earth Day!
